This work seeks to create and motivate the notion of metamodelling and show how it can be used to standardize the creation of industry-strength software design. It then goes on to present an analysis of the main object-orientated design methodologies, including: Booch, OMT, Coad, and Martin/Odell. Based on three descriptions, a proposal is made for a core metamodel framework into which the leading methodologies may be fitted. As such this should be a useful pointer toward future development of software standards.Indeed, in Booch [6] it is noted that these two ways of showing neighbourhoods of interaction [67] are more or less interchangeable. Event models in MOSES link O/ Cs (specifically objects) with Messages that invoke published Services.
